Alessandro Raho
in ‘The Swimmer’, FLAG Art Foundation, New York
6 June – 9 August 2024
Alessandro Raho is included in ‘The Swimmer’, a group exhibition currently on view at the FLAG Art Foundation, New York. Curated by Jonathan Rider, ‘The Swimmer’ is inspired by John Cheever’s 1964 short story of the same title. Much like Cheever’s text, in which the protagonist must swim home by way of his affluent neighbour’s swimming pools, FLAG’s exhibition similarly confuses time and unfolds through a series of disappearances in bodies of water. Navigating themes inherent to ‘The Swimmer’ and Cheever’s wider oeuvre, the exhibition communicates an idea of the crumbling of an American dream.
