Since its founding in Copenhagen in 1904, Georg Jensen has upheld a philosophy that brings together artistic expression and functional design, rooted in a deep respect for craftsmanship. The house has long supported practitioners, particularly women, whose work moves between tradition and innovation, and the Georg Jensen Contemporary Prize builds on this legacy by recognising artists who reinterpret material, technique, and form for the present moment.
The exhibition introduces the thinking behind the prize through a curated group of invited artists, Alison Wilding, Maiko Tsutsumi, Dan Coopey, Hellen Ascoli, Kira Freije and Simone Griffin. Each contribution reflects, in different ways, an engagement with process, material language, and the transformation of established practices.
The presentation coincides with the launch of Weft, Georg Jensen’s new jewellery collection, which draws on the structures and histories of weaving. The exhibition will act as a parallel exploration of these ideas, expanding them across contemporary artistic practices.
