Lenore Tawney & Erika Verzutti
in ‘Whose Tradition?’, Tate Liverpool
14 November 2021 – 21 August 2022
Erika Verzutti and Lenore Tawney are included in ‘Whose Tradition?’ at Tate Liverpool, on view from 14 November 2021–21 August 2022, a group exhibition about artistic influence, inspiration and cultural reference.
Drawing together works from Constantin Brancusi, Pablo Picasso and Wilfredo Lam, as well as contributions from such contemporary artists as Pacita Abad, Ellen Gallagher and Santu Mofokeng, ‘Whose Tradition?’ rethinks inspiration between different cultures, examining the complex story of how different cultures have been a source of inspiration for artists throughout history and how this has rarely been carried out on equal terms.
