Alison Jacques is delighted to announce that Veronica Ryan has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s birthday honours list that recognises the ‘outstanding achievements of people across the United Kingdom’.
The prestigious award follows the opening of Ryan’s major solo exhibition at Spike Island, Bristol, ‘Along a Spectrum’ (21 May – 5 September), and the presentation of a new commission at The Hepworth Wakefield commemorating the institution’s 10th anniversary (20 May 2021 – 27 February 2022).
It also anticipates the unveiling of a major permanent artwork in the London Borough of Hackney for the Windrush Commission, the UK’s first public sculpture to honour the Windrush Generation. The work, a collection of bronze and marble casts of Caribbean fruits and vegetables, will be presented on 1 October.
