Ian Kiaer’s ‘Tooth House’ project, now realised at Focal Point Gallery, puts forward a space of oscillation in the face of the object and its encounter. Related to the unrealised project of the architect Frederick Kiesler (1890-1965) and his proposals for a biomorphic tooth-shaped habitation, Kiaer’s installations propose a yet more speculative reading of space, extracting fragments from the notions of Kiesler’s architectural model by repurposing pieces of debris into fragile schemas.
