Maria Bartuszová, Birgit Jürgenssen, Michelle Stuart, Dorothea Tanning & Hannah Wilke
in ‘Virginia Woolf’, Tate St Ives, Cornwall
10 February – 29 April 2018
Maria Bartuszová, Birgit Jürgenssen, Dorothea Tanning and Hannah Wilke are included in ‘Virginia Woolf: An Exhibition Inspired by Her Writings’ at Tate St Ives, Cornwall.
The exhibition explores works inspired by Virginia Woolf, the celebrated author of such novels as To the Lighthouse (1927) and the pioneering feminist text A Room of One’s Own (1929), who spent much of her childhood in the coastal town of St Ives. This exhibition is led by her writing, which will act as a prism through which to explore feminist perspectives on landscape, domesticity and identity in modern and contemporary art – with works by over 70 artists.
After exhibiting at Tate St Ives, it will then be on display at the Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, from 26 May – 16 September, and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, from 2 October – 9 December.
