Staatsgalerie Stuttgart presents ‘Stand Up’, an exhibition with works from the feminist avant-garde. The exhibition provides multifaceted insights into the photographs of artists of the feminist avant-garde who radically question the role of women in art and society and thus seek to establish an alternative image of women from a female perspective.
With around 140 works by prominent female photographers of the 1970s, including Birgit Jürgenssen, Valie Export, Cindy Sherman and Judy Chicago, the exhibition explore the artistic propositions that were voiced in the 1970s and contemplates women’s consciousness and role in society.
