Lenore Tawney: Holding us in wonder
The Gund, Kenyon College, Ohio
10 July – 14 December 2025
The Gund at Kenyon College presents ‘Holding us in wonder’, a solo exhibition of work by Lenore Tawney. The exhibition, held in Buchwald-Wright Gallery, explores how Tawney’s contributions helped bridge the gap between modernist textile art and conceptual art movements of the 20th century, and further establish her as a seminal voice within her generation, and generations thereafter.
The exhibition title is taken from the artist Agnes Martin’s introduction to Tawney’s first solo exhibition at the Staten Island Museum in 1961, which reads: ‘this is an urgency that sweeps us up, an originality and success that holds us in wonder.’
