Erika Verzutti
in ‘Coimbra Biennial of Contemporary Art’, Portugal
2 November – 29 December 2019
Erika Verzutti is participating in ‘Anozero’19’, the third edition of the Coimbra Biennial of Contemporary Art in Portugal, on view to the public from 2 November – 29 December 2019.
Verzutti’s new sculpture Mineral (2019) will be shown alongside works by 39 international artists in venues throughout the city. Curated by Agnaldo Farias, Lígia Afonso and Nuno de Brito Rocha, the biennial takes its name from the title of the short story ‘The Third Bank of the River’ (1962) by João Guimarães Rosa, one of the most important Brazilian writers of the 20th century. Five sentences taken from the tale serve as the conceptual axis for ‘Anozero’19’, revolving around silence, transition, marginality, invention and militancy.
