Ana Mendieta is included in ‘Take a Breath’, a group exhibition at IMMA, Dublin.
This major exhibition provides a comprehensive examination of breathing from historical, social, political, and personal perspectives. ‘Take a Breath’ addresses themes of decolonisation, environmental racism, Indigenous language, and breath as mediation.
In conjunction with the exhibition’s opening weekend, filmmaker and Administrator for the Estate of Ana Mendieta Collection, Raquel Cecilia Mendieta, will host a discussion on Mendieta’s radically experimental work today from 2:00-4:00pm. This event will showcase two films about the artist: ‘Ana Mendieta, Nature Inside’ and ‘Whispering Cave’. The screening will be followed by a Q&A session, discussing the creation of the films and Racquel Cecilia Mendieta’s work with Mendieta’s archive.
