Alison Jacques is delighted to announce Betty Parsons’ inclusion in the group exhibition ‘Action, Gesture, Paint: Women Artists and Global Abstraction 1940-70’ at Whitechapel Gallery, London.
Illustrating the wider reach of the Abstract Expressionist movement, the exhibition ignites a reappraisal by collating 150 paintings by 81 women artists, both from America and from across the globe, who also aligned themselves to the visual and conceptual concerns raised by the movement in the aftermath of the Second World War.
A concurrent exhibition focusing on the rise of performance art at this time also on view at Whitechapel Gallery, ‘Action, Gesture, Performance: Feminism, the Body and Abstraction’, includes Lygia Clark and Ana Mendieta.
