Birgit Jürgenssen and Ana Mendieta are included in ‘Women and Change’ at Arken Museum of Modern Art, Ishøj, Denmark, on view 5 February–14 August 2022.
Featuring representations of women and gender in art from the past 150 years, the exhibition unfolds how Western art history has depicted women from the Modern Breakthrough of the late nineteenth century to the most recent contemporary art.
Through a wealth of works by both Danish and international artists, visitors can explore how artists have reflected, responded to and resisted changing perceptions of both women and gender: from Impressionist portraits to performative body art.
