Sheila Hicks, Lorraine Pettway and Lenore Tawney are included in ‘Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles in Art’ at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. This major group exhibition features more than 40 international, intergenerational artists who use textiles to convey vital ideas about power, resistance and survival. From intimate handmade pieces to monumental sculptural installations, these works offer stories of violence, imperialism and exclusion alongside stories of resilience, love and hope.
This exhibition was co-curated by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the Barbican, London, where the exhibition was on view from February to May 2024.
