IAN KIAER
‘RETHINKING ROMANTICISM’, CENTRO ARTE MODERNA E CONTEMPORANEA, LA SPEZIA, ITALY: UNTIL 13 SEPTEMBER
11 April – 13 September 2026
Ian Kiaer’s work is included in Rethinking Romanticism in Contemporary Art at CAMeC – Centro d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea della Spezia, La Spezia, on view from 11 April until 13 September 2026.
Curated by Elena Volpato, the exhibition reconsiders the legacy of Romanticism through contemporary artistic practice. Following three of Romanticism’s central figures – Caspar David Friedrich, John Constable and J.M.W. Turner – the presentation traces how ideas of landscape, nature, the sublime and the interior life continue to resonate in contemporary art.
Kiaer is shown alongside Giovanni Anselmo, Massimo Bartolini, David Schutter, Linda Fregni Nagler, Pesce Khete and Michele Tocca. Together, their works reflect on the enduring relationship between human experience and the natural world, approaching landscape not only as a site of observation, but as a space of thought, memory and psychological encounter.
