Maria Bartuszová: a small void full of a small infinite universe
South Bohemian Gallery, Czech Republic
7 June – 17 November 2025

This exhibition marks Maria Bartuszová’s first solo exhibition in the Czech Republic. Born in Prague, where she lived until 1961, Bartuszová studied Prague Academy of Fine Arts and Design before settling Košice, a city that became Bartuszová’s new home, where she lived and created until the end of her life. The exhibition includes many significant sculptural works– small plaster sculptures as well as bronze or aluminium works, and large reliefs and objects, some of which will have their premiere at this exhibition. The exhibition is thematically structured, as the working title suggests, and takes inspiration from her 1988 solo exhibition in Košice, where Bartuszová formulated her creative program as an eco-futuristic memento.
