Alison Jacques is pleased to announce the participation Maria Bartuszová (b. 1936, Prague, Czechoslovakia; d. 1996, Košice, Slovakia), Birgit Jürgenssen (b. 1949, Vienna, Austria; d. 2003, Vienna, Austria) and Dorothea Tanning (b. 1910, Galesburg, Illinois, US; d. 2012, New York, US) in the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, ‘The Milk of Dreams’, curated by Cecilia Alemani.

The announcement anticipates Bartuszová’s retrospective at Tate Modern, London (21 September 2022 – 16 April 2023); Tanning’s inclusion in ‘Surrealism Beyond Borders’ at Tate Modern, London (24 February – 29 August 2022), and ‘Surrealism and Magic’, The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice (9 April – 26 September 2022); and Jürgenssen’s inclusion in ‘Women and Change’, ARKEN, Copenhagen (5 February – 14 August 2022).
