Feminist struggles have rarely been approached through the lens of humor. Yet, as early as the 1960s, artists were harnessing it as a joyful and biting force of attack.Through derision, irony, and absurdity, they thwarted imposed roles and challenged norms. ‘La Marrade’ explores these forms of visual humor where the artistic gesture becomes a stance, as free as it is irreverent. Curated by Camille Paulhan, in association with Hanna Alkema, with the assistance of Margaux Savignac. ‘La Marrade’ has been recognized as an ‘exhibition of national interest’ by the Ministry of Culture in France, notably for the quality of its scholarly approach and the LAAC’s commitment to accessibility for all audiences.
