Tucked away in a corner of De Beauvoir Town in London’s East End, designer Simone Rocha is sitting at her desk in her atelier. Known for her romantic silhouettes offset by gritty contemporary accents, the designer, who hails from Ireland and has roots tracing back to Hong Kong, has become a star of the London fashion scene since launching her label in 2010. With her hair in its signature Edwardian style (Howard’s End is one of her favourite films) and dressed in her customary black palette, she leans across her desk and adjusts her computer screen, revealing hands adorned with a chunky ring on nearly every finger as she prepares to join artist Sophie Barber for this episode of In Conversation.
