Art and Resistance in the American South is the theme of the new exhibition at Turner Contemporary; ‘We Will Walk’.
With the purpose of illuminating the history shaped by the Civil Rights period in the 1950s and 60s, the curation brings together sculptural assemblages, paintings and quilts by more than 20 African American artists from Alabama and surrounding states.
Marking their first display in the UK, the exhibition will showcase a series of quilts from The Gee’s Bend Quiltmakers.
